| Robert Ackley was introduced to the music of Indonesia by Pak Djoko Waluyo in 1997 while studying music at San Diego State University. Since then, he has continued to train with Pak Djoko Waluyo and has traveled to Indonesia twice to study music. He currently performs with multiple gamelan ensembles in both San Diego and Los Angeles, including, performing for the yearly celebration of Indonesia's independence at the Indonesian consulate for Los Angeles, recording for Warner Brothers Studios and performing for the consulate general of Indonesia at his private home. Robert has also played an important role in the development of the gamelan program at Canyon Crest Academy, which received a Grammy Award for it's achievements in 2011. |
